Hello! My name is Ryan. I am an aspiring musician and avid bibliophile, in that I try to play guitar and spend an hour or two reading almost everyday. I'm big into cooking as well, and live in a large co-op housing situation where we all occasionally share meals and order food in bulk. I also love most things involving being outside.
Experience
I spent a summer working for Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, wherein I was an Assistant Backcountry Trail Crew Lead. I was tasked with teaching a curriculum of my own devising to my crew for the whole summer, averaging 10 hours per week. That was my first formal teaching experience. I've also spent a summer working at the CU Challenge Course, leading groups of mostly middle-school age children through obstacles designed to facilitate teamwork and group-cohesion. I found myself to be capable of getting in the mindset of kids, and encompassing the rules of the games I introduced within the framework of a narrative, so as to engage them. I plan to take a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course from Oxford courses this upcoming March, as well as a Yoga Teacher Training (teaching-related, at least) this upcoming Jan-March, so as to further my teaching abilities.
