Edward L - Homeschool Tutor In Thornton PA - Local or Online

Hello! I look forward to the opportunity to help you learn and love science! Science can be such a wonderful subject, helping you to understand how and why things are, how they behave, what you can do to create and change them. It can also be frustrating when you don't understand it. That's what I hope to help you with, to make the connections that will help you understand. Outside of tutoring, I am trying to learn to play the guitar (although I'm not very ambidextrous), learn programming languages (SQL, Python, Tableau), and am hoping to build a robot (I'm just starting to use an Arduino). My sons and I enjoy playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate (they aren't easy on me, though). I was finally successful in growing plants this year, so I tend to them every day. I do enjoy sightseeing, so I look forward to being able to do that again soon.

Experience

I am certified to teach physics, chemistry, biology, and general science. I have taugh each of those subjects at least once (bioogy was only part of the year, though). I have taught all levels of physical science (academic through AP). I have taught in a classroom and virtually. I have tutored local students for 25 years, mostly in physics and chemistry. My goal is always to find out what will make the connection for the student, what examples can they relate to, do they need objects they can manipulate, what real-life experience can serve as an example. I want the students to enjoy the learning experience, so I try to keep it low-key and light-hearted. Sometimes, what you need to learn isn't really what anyone would call, "fun," but I try my best to not be too serious. I do expect the student to stay on-topic and focused on the goal of learning, as that is what I've been hired to help them to do. I want to make sure that we accomplish what we set out to do by the end of our time together.
